ABOUT ROGUE 24

Rogue 24 is an interactive culinary experience where the kitchen is at center stage and diners experience a progression of dishes created by James Beard Foundation award winning Chef RJ Cooper. Chef Cooper’s vision is to remove traditional barriers to dining and showcase seasonal flavors in novel textures and presentations served directly from the creators.

Diners are also treated to hand-crafted cocktails and sodas created by Derek Brown, the acclaimed mixologist behind Columbia Room, and his team.

ABOUT CHEF RJ COOPER

Chef RJ Cooper in the kitchen

Chef RJ Cooper, a 2007 James Beard Foundation award winner for Best Chef (Mid-Atlantic) and Iron Chef competitor, draws inspiration from his 24 year tenure in the kitchen, ranging from cooking Southern food in Atlanta to working at Eric Ripert’s 3-star Michelin restaurant Le Bernardin in New York City. Cooper joined the The Oval Room and New Heights in Washington D.C. before becoming Chef de Cuisine at Vidalia in 2004. Rogue 24 is the culmination of his cooking experience, a concept born from his desire to go rogue from the ever-so typical fine dining restaurant.

Chef RJ Cooper is recognized for his support of Share Our Strength where he has been active in advocating the end of childhood hunger. Cooper served as a Chair on the Taste of the Nation Culinary Council and locally as Chef Chair of Taste of the Nation Washington, D.C. for 3 years.

Chef RJ Cooper resides in McLean, VA with his wife Judy and twin daughters, Bridgette and Ava. His daughters provide more than inspiration; they literally wake him up every morning.

MORE ABOUT ROGUE

Rogue 24 opened in the summer of 2011 in a renovated 1920s car garage tucked behind a red brick-paved alley near the convention center. It’s the one with the wooden exterior and graffiti of a chef’s knife and tongs above the doorway. Just inside is a 14-seat salon to kick off the evening with a Derek Brown-designed cocktail before moving into the 52-seat dining room.

The idea behind this restaurant is to bring together roughness with finesse — motorcycles and tattoos with rosé.
